An unidentified man was electrocuted while attempting to vandalize a transformer in the Akute area of Ogun State, according to the Ogun State Police Command.
The community had been experiencing issues with theft and damage of electrical wires from their power transformer, prompting the chairman of the Irewole community, Rasheed Ajagbe, to report the incident to the police.
“The deceased had climbed into the transformer house and while attempting to cut a wire, got electrocuted and died,” said Omolola Odutola, spokesman for the Ogun State Police Command.
A team of detectives visited the scene, took photographs, and deposited the corpse at the General Hospital Ifo mortuary for autopsy and preservation.
