Vigilant Community Foils Vandalism Attempt on TCN Transmission Tower

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has commended the people of Watuolo Village in Benue State for thwarting a vandalism attempt on its Tower T195 along the Ugwuaji – Makurdi 330kV transmission line.
The incident occurred on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at about 3 am, when community members noticed suspicious activity around the tower and promptly apprehended one of the vandals.
The swift action of the community members prevented significant damage to the transmission tower, and the vandal was handed over to the police.
TCN has appealed to other communities hosting critical infrastructure to emulate this example and take ownership of protecting transmission installations in their vicinity.
This incident highlights the importance of community vigilance in preventing vandalism, which has become a significant challenge to Nigeria’s power infrastructure.
TCN continues to work with security operatives and host communities to curb the menace of vandalism and ensure a stable and reliable power supply.
