NCDMB Launches ICT Centre to Empower Students in Bayelsa Community

SANGANA,The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) on Wednesday inaugurated a cutting-edge Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre at Community Secondary School in Sangana, Bayelsa State, marking a transformative step toward bridging the digital divide in the region.
The newly unveiled facility, located in the Brass Local Government Area, is equipped with 31 desktop computers, a Wowbii Interactive Board, a printing system, and a solar-powered inverter complemented by a backup generator to ensure uninterrupted operation.
The centre aims to bolster digital literacy among students and prepare them for global competitiveness.
During the inauguration ceremony, NCDMB Executive Secretary Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe (FNSE), represented by General Manager of Corporate Communications Esueme Dan Kikile Esq., underscored the Board’s dedication to community development.
“This initiative reflects our commitment to empowering the next generation with critical technological skills,” Kikile stated.
He urged the school and community to prioritize the facility’s maintenance, noting that the NCDMB will monitor its usage and evaluate future upgrades.
School Principal and community leaders lauded the project, emphasizing its potential to enhance academic performance and student morale. “This centre will open doors for our youth, equipping them with tools to thrive in a digital world,” said one local chief. Stakeholders unanimously pledged to safeguard the infrastructure.
Notable attendees included former NCDMB Governing Council member Mrs. Peace Oyanbo Owei, Senior Projects Manager Mr. Joseph Adebayo, and other Board representatives.
The ICT centre’s establishment aligns with NCDMB’s broader strategy to foster sustainable development through education, positioning Sangana’s students at the forefront of Nigeria’s digital evolution.
