Nigerian Army Cracks Down on Oil Thieves in Niger Delta

The Nigerian Army’s 6 Division has arrested 12 suspected oil thieves and destroyed 26 illegal refining sites in the Niger Delta region. Over 95,000 liters of stolen crude oil were also seized.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division, Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, led the operation, visiting several illegal bunkering sites in Rivers and Abia states. The army also intercepted several boats and trucks used for oil theft.
The crackdown is part of the army’s efforts to curb oil theft and pipeline vandalism in the region. The GOC commended the troops for their efforts and urged them to continue denying economic saboteurs freedom of action.
