Gov. Diri Felicitates New Chief of Air Staff, Commends President Tinubu for ‘Putting Round Peg in a Round Hole’

Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has congratulated Air Vice Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke on his appointment as the new Chief of Air Staff (CAS) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the development as a well-deserved recognition of competence and professionalism.
In a statement issued by the Bayelsa State Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Ebiuwou Koku Obiyai, on behalf of the Governor, Diri extolled Air Vice Marshal Aneke’s distinguished service record and expressed confidence that his leadership would further strengthen the nation’s security architecture.
Air Vice Marshal Aneke was, until his elevation, the Air Officer Commanding, Mobility Command, Nigerian Air Force, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Governor Diri said: “Our hearty congratulations to Air Vice Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke on his well-deserved elevation as the Chief of Air Staff. As a fine, thoroughbred gentleman officer, we are confident that he will add value to the security architecture and the renewed effort at promoting peace and national security.”
The Governor also commended President Tinubu for his choice of the new service chief, describing it as a demonstration of sound judgment and commitment to merit-based leadership within the armed forces.
According to Diri, “President Bola Tinubu deserves commendation for putting a round peg in a round hole by appointing Air Vice Marshal Aneke as Chief of Air Staff. This appointment reflects the President’s confidence in professionalism, experience, and integrity — qualities the new Air Chief has exemplified throughout his service.”
Governor Diri further expressed optimism that the appointment would bolster collaboration between the Nigerian Air Force and state authorities in ensuring peace, particularly in the Niger Delta region.
