Tompolo Debunks Issuing Ultimatum Over Nnamdi Kanu’s Detention

The camp of High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has refuted viral reports and social media videos claiming that the ex-militant leader issued a “21-day ultimatum” to the Federal Government demanding the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB),Nnamdi Kanu.
In a statement released by Apostle Bodmas Prince Kemepadei, Chairman of the “”Izon Cultural Heritage Centre (ICHC)and an adherent of Tompolo, the claim was described as “false, misleading, and mischievous”.
“The attention of the followers and disciples of High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo has been drawn to some circulating videos and reports on social media falsely claiming that he issued a 21-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to release Mr. Nnamdi Kanu,” the statement read.
“We wish to categorically refute this misleading and mischievous claim in its entirety. High Chief Tompolo has no hand in such statements, neither has he made nor authorized any ultimatum concerning the said matter.”
Apostle Bodmas noted that the false claims were the handiwork of *“mischief-makers and attention seekers attempting to exploit his name and influence for their own agenda.”*
He clarified that “Tompolo’s struggle and advocacy have always been focused on promoting “peace, unity, and development in the Niger Delta”, as well as protecting national assets through lawful engagement with the Federal Government and relevant authorities.
“Let it be clearly stated that Tompolo’s efforts are not connected in any form or ideology with the activities or cause of Nnamdi Kanu,” he emphasized.
The statement urged Nigerians, the media, and the international community to “disregard the viral videos and unfounded reports”, describing them as deliberate attempts to misinform the public and cause unnecessary tension.
“High Chief Government Ekpemupolo remains committed to the path of peace, dialogue, and nation-building, and will not be distracted by propaganda from those who believe using his name will serve their ulterior motives,” Apostle Bodmas stated.
The Izon Cultural Heritage Centre reaffirmed that Tompolo continues to work in collaboration with government institutions and community stakeholders to ensure lasting peace and stability across the Niger Delta region.
