Bayelsa state Commissioner of Police Uche Anozie has imposed a dusk to dawn curfew in Yenagoa State capital and local areas of the state
This came on the heels of violent protest that greeted the Supreme Court ruling which nulified the election of APC , David Lyon, who was scheduled to be sworn in Friday .
The curfew will lasted for 3 days and it is between 8PM to 6AM daily.
We should be magnanimous in victory – Gov Douye Diri
The newly Sworn-in Governor of Bayelsa state, Senator Douyi Diri has urged members of the peoples Democratic party, PDP members to be magnanimous in victory, and stop killing one another.
Diri stated this shortly after being sworn-in with his running mate, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, on Friday by the state Chief Judge, Justice Kate Abiri, who administered the oaths of office and allegiance on him at the Government House in Yenagoa, the state capital.
”This is a state we all wanted to create as a serving member of Ijaw national congress, we traversed the length of Nigeria and all of us, wanted to create a state that can develop our region and our area
”Today we have a state, governors have come governors have gone, today we have a state. We members of PDP, my advice to members of this great party, is that we have to be magnanimous in victory.
”The bitterness, the acrimony, if we kill ourselves, who are we going to lead? Are we going to lead animals. Today is fourteenth of February, a day of love. As a Valentine Governor and deputy governor we bring message of love,” he said.
Mr Douye is the 5th civil governor in saddle in Bayelsa state . He took over from Seriake Dickson of the same Party , Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
