Stakeholders in Makurdi, the Benue State Capital have petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Adamu Mohammed over the illegal arrest of a 50 years old grandmother, Madam Lizzy Akaa and three of her children and gran children over alleged disputed child custody.

Also arrested is her 32 years old daughter, Sandra Akaa and her three children.

The angry stakeholders, under the aegis of Benue People for Justice and Development, led by Comrade Julius Aguede, alleged that the policemen attached to the Benue Police Command led by DCP Achinya Zachariah, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge State CID.

According to Aguede, the issue is that the said Mrs. Apezan who has threatened to deal with Mrs. Lizzy Akaa is accusing Sandra Akaa of adoption and kidnapping her own biological children.

According to him, “It happened in Makurdi, Lizzy Akaa, grandmother and Sandra Akaa, the 32yrs old mother to the children were arrested on Tuesday and detained since then”

“They are detained at the state CID Makurdi Benue state. Few hours later, the grandmother was released on health grounds after some money ere extorted as bail fund. The deputy Commissioner of Police was discovered to be the brain behind the allege oppression of the biological mother of the children, Mrs. Rebecca Apezan.

“We have investigated and discovered that DCP Achinya Zachariah, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge State CID has an unholy alliance with Mrs. Rebecca Apezan. Mrs. Apezan is not in any way related to the said children so one may wonder why she is desperate to have custody of children that are not hers.”

“The issue is that the said Mrs Apezan who has threatened to deal with Mrs Lizzy Akaa is accusing Sandra Akaa of adoption and kidnapping her own biological children. The DCP who is her boyfriend has orders for the detention of the biological mother and grandmother. When they requested for their bail, the DC CID in Benue is demanding the sum of 5million before releasing them.”

“Father of the children are late and Mrs. Rebecca Apezan wants custody of children that are not hers.”
