Yenagoa_____Activities of oil theft have continued unabated at the Bille Kingdom in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State, a pipeline surveillance outfit has said.
Labrador, the security outfit which monitors oil pipelines from Bayelsa to Rivers State said based on a tip-off its crew was able to unearth the activities of the illegal oil thieves along Ke waterways.
The Labrador crew stationed at the area known as unit three in Bille Kingdom has however alerted a combined team of JTF troops and NSCDC operatives who stormed the place but the oil thieves sighting them dived into the water and escape.
The troop, however, seized two dug out boats and three badges loaded with refined diesel and set ablaze all illegal oil refinery materials used by the vandals to carry out their illicit acts.
When contacted on the development, a security source who spoke on the condition of anonymity said Labrador security outfit has been helpful in their fight against crude oil theft.
He said: “The Labrador security outfit at Bille Kingdom with a combined team of JTF and NSCDC stopped illegal oil bunkering activities at Ke Waterways, Degema Local Government Area. Two dugout boats loaded with illegally refined diesel were recovered and set ablaze. Three big badges loaded with illegal refined diesel were also uncovered where they were hidden and have been moved to Bille”.
