NNPCL Discredits Fuel Experiment, Vows Legal Action Against Falsehoods

ABUJA, The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd has vehemently denied claims circulating in a viral video that its fuel is of poor quality and does not last, labelling the allegations as “baseless” and “entirely unfounded.”
The company further announced it will pursue legal action against individuals or groups spreading such misinformation.
In a statement released on Saturday, NNPC Ltd refuted the claims made in the online video, which it described as originating from “unverified and amateur research that lacks credibility, accuracy, and professional oversight.”
The company emphasized that its fuel is “carefully formulated with one of the best compositions, ensuring optimal efficiency, durability, and environmental sustainability for consumers.”
The statement said that a substantial portion of the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) sold at NNPC retail stations in Lagos, where the video was reportedly filmed, is sourced from the Dangote Refinery, a key partner committed to local production and energy security.
It emphasized that the Dangote Refinery adheres to stringent industry standards, guaranteeing the quality of its petroleum products.”This misleading video represents yet another desperate attempt by economic saboteurs to misinform the public and tarnish NNPC Ltd’s reputation,” stated Olufemi Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd.
“We will not tolerate deliberate misinformation designed to undermine our operations and mislead Nigerians.”
In a strong message to those spreading the false information, NNPC Ltd declared its intention to take “firm legal action against individuals or groups who intentionally spread falsehoods about our brand and operations.” The company warned that those involved in such “malicious activities” will be held accountable under the law.
